Black debris found inside ice machine at Mexican restaurant

Bexar County Metro Health inspectors didn’t find a failing restaurant during its most recent inspections. In order to receive a passing score each restaurant has to get a 70 or higher. El Potosino Mexican Restaurant #1, 1105 Bandera Rd, San Antonio, TX 78228 did that, scoring a 72, but inspectors did find several violations:

  • Personal beverages, glasses, box of cigarettes were stored on preparation tables and the microwave
  • Employees were observed touching their face and then handling utensils, and cleaning them on towels
  • Prepared foods didn't include expiration dates
  • Food being stored in grocery-like bags instead of food storage bags or containers
  • Towels being sanitized improperly
  • Ice machine had black debris built up on the inside panel

The menu includes a variety of options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A few options include; pastas, pizzas, salads, sandwiches, meats and vegetarian options.
