Weekend Fun: Halloween contest for your pets, Chalk It Up and more!

This weekend is expected to be just beautiful so get outside and enjoy it! "Bark in the Park" is at Sunken Garden Theatre Saturday afternoon from 2-7. “Daytime at Nine's” Kimberly Crawford and News 4 San Antonio’s Leslie Bohl will judge the finals again this year! The winner will pocket $1,000!!!

"CHALK IT UP"/SATURDAY 10-4 ON HOUSTON STREET

Downtown streets and sidewalks will become canvases for artists and anyone who wants to be a Picasso for a day! Houston Street will be closed for five blocks Artpace "chalk it up." Watch artists create amazing visions using chalk-- or try your hand yourself. The free contemporary art festival runs from 10-4 Saturday. There will be live music, food trucks and a photo booth so you can make a day of it.

DANCE IN THE PARK FRIDAY NIGHT/YANAGUANA GARDEN IN HEMISFAIR

Kick off the weekend celebrating Yanaguana Garden's one year anniversary with Dance in the Park! Friday night there's a big party planned from 5-10pm in Hemisfair's urban park. Food booths, music, art! Plus- fun and games with Rotengo and free dance lessons!

HEROFEST/SUNDAY

Hero fest is Sunday at Comanche Park # 2. Free admission to see 7 bands including the 80's favorite- the Spazmatics. The day of fun will kick off with a 5 and 10 k race at 8:30. Come early and stay late because a lot of folks have off the next day for Columbus Day! All proceeds benefit the San Antonio Fire Fighters Cancer Fund because fire fighters have a higher risk of cancer due to their jobs.
