Blanco BBQ, which is nestled into the Northside of Phil Hardberger Park, on Blanco Road, scored a perfect 100 on its latest health inspection.

This place looks and smells the part of a Texas BBQ joint.

"We have developed a signature rub which has a little bit of spices. It has rosemary and other great herbs," says assistant kitchen manager Norman Gonzalez.

It features a wood-filled spacious dining hall, from the exposed beams, to the tables, benches, and floors.

Right off the hall, pitmasters are smoking all the meats in a mixture of Texas oak and pecan wood.

They smoke their briskets for 14 hours, and brine their chickens and turkeys for eight.

Blanco BBQ offers all the classic BBQ sides, from potato salad and charro beans to pecan pie for dessert.

It might be too cold to enjoy now, but the restaurant also offers plenty of outside fun.

"We have a really unique family atmosphere here we have a huge playground in the back with picnic tables for the kids. They also have live music Friday all the way until Sunday. So it is a lot of fun for the family," says manager Sonya Carpenter.

The restaurant is about to celebrate its 5 year anniversary of serving up Texas BBQ.

"We would like to thank, the city of San Antonio Health Department for helping us keep a perfect score," said Carpenter.

"We would also like to thank our guests for helping us with our continued success,"said Gonzalez.

If you'd rather have some breakfast, its drive-thru is open in the morning dishing out breakfast tacos.
